Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your information, the diagnosis may be tinea cruris (Fungal infection of the groin). Before initiating medications, please do the following:
1. Avoid using over the counter medications such as itch guard which can exacerbate the skin lesion (Do not get deceived by the initial improvement)
2. Please keep the skin dry by applying Clotrimazole Dusting powder
3. Please sundry the innerwear and use it. Avoid using wet inner wear.
Coming to the medication part, you can use Terbinafine cream 1% twice daily on the affected skin and also the skin surrounding the lesion (for about 2 cm around the skin lesion). Followed by cream application, you do apply clotrimazole dusting powder. Continue the medication for 2 weeks and if you do not get any improvement, please consult your Family physician/Dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
