I have a herniated disc at L5 S1 which is pinching off left siatic nerve and laying against right siatic nerve plus i have arthritis in the area i have been getting treatment since i found out in October I was recently told that my herniated disc is leaking fluid the mri results did not say anything about it leaking so my question is how does my doctor or nurse practioner know its leaking
I would like to directly review your spine MRI for a more professional opinion. It is quite common for the herniated disc to degenerate in this way. Correcting your posture and performing physiotherapy to help reinforce your back muscles can help improve your situation. It is also necessary avoiding prolonged standing up or sitting position and weight lifting. Painkillers and hot packs can help improve the pain. If your situation worsens despite the above recommendations, I would recommend consulting with a spinal surgeon.
