How Can Hyper Pigmentation On The Lower Legs Be Treated?
I noticed the shin on my lower legs had a dark rash. At the time my ankles were swelling and the doctor said the color would come back when the swelling went down. That was about two months ago, now it has gotten a lot worse. The swelling is under control. Should I get a doctor that knows what he is doing. Apparently the one I have has no clue. What is causing this discoloration???
Hi. As per your case history you are having post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like mometasone cream on the lesions twice daily. 3. Apply a kojic acid cream like kojivit twice daily on it. 4. Other treatment options are oral multivitamins, chemical peeling done by dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
