Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I suffer from high blood pressure and take Losartan for it; however, my blood pressure has been steadily climbing. I just took it with a bp cuff for my wrist and it was 216/129, pulse 63. My doctor has prescribed a diuretic. I took the first pill this morning. I am not overweight, 71 years old and better than average fitness. I play tennis as often as I can. Should this new prescription really help?
The anti-hypertensive medications take time to respond until sufficient drug level is shown up at plasma level. So after starting of a new dose, you must observe for 3 to 4 days to get best-predicted results.
Along with prescribed medications, relieving stress and doing meditations will help tremendously with a salt-free diet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Purva Patel
