How Can I Identify Whether Nasal Bone Is Broken Or Not?
Hi, i hit my nose(nasal bone) on door ,and when i forcefully sneeze few drops of blood came out ,still a very slight reddish color is still running from my nose when i m forcefully sneezing. my nasal bone has a wound and swollen. how can i identify whether its broken or not
Generally swelling and difficulty of breathing is expected after a nasal trauma like you have had. In this case the tissues and mucous get swollen due to trauma and inflammation. Hemorrhage is a common sign.
To understand if your nasal bone is broken or not try to do these observations. In front of the mirror take a look to your face and nasal bone. Is it symmetric? Do you note any deformation in the front or in the sides of the nasal bone? After that try to touch gently with your fingers. If it is broken the parts of the bone may be displaced and produce a sound like "crack, or crup".
If you remark anything like that you have to go to ER and consult an ENT doctor for further procedures.
If you don't note any damage you may stay home, put ice on the nose and you may take ibuprofen for the pain and the inflammation.
Take care and all the best for you! Best wishes! DR ERIOL.
