How Can Intermittent Rib Aches With Pain Be Treated?

I have always had intermittent rib aches growing up. However, now in the 50 s I have more days than not of being in pain. I find doing daily chores painful..esp. washing the dishes. I end up bent over half way through doing them. It feels like a vice grip and at times I have to take 1500mg of Tylenol just to get some relief. Is there a specialist I can see? I do have a mild scoliosis but not enough to cause such pain. Is there a home remedy to try?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
It could be due to mild scoliosis.I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. You may get the X-ray/CT of the area affected under his/her guidance.
Pain killers and muscle relaxants will bring a short term relief.
You can do a hot fomentation and apply a local analgesic gel on the area to relieve the spasm.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
