How Can Itching And Redness In The Eyes Be Treated?
Good afternoon...I had eye redness on my right eye last week, a bit sore but the redness disappeared on the weekend. It felt itchy so I checked my right lower eyelid and found tiny bubbles. Went to the doctor last Monday and prescribed me with FML fluorometholone eye drops. 2drops 4xs a day. Bubbles still there and a bit itchy. Pls advise what to do. Thanks
Hi ,welcome to HCM. Your symptoms are suggestive of an allergic reaction in your eye for which your doctor has started of with appropriate drops. However I would suggest you to just apply ONE drop of FML drops 4 times a day for a week along with OTC Anti-allergic drops like Visine/Alaway-ONE drop twice a day.Continue for 2 weeks for a better relief. In most of the situations,my patients would have no clue of what started this allergic reaction. It could be a new beauty product/recent outdoor visit/pet....So I usually ask them to take a single dose of Oral anti -allergic tablet like Zyrtec/Allegra and if sore a Tylenol for reducing the swelling which may be continued as per need.
If after 2 weeks ,the symptoms persist, then you might need to revisit your doctor to get treated with more stronger prescribed anti-allergic eye drops.
Hope this helps.Take care.
