How Can Itching In The Groin Area Be Treated?

Itchy area crease of leg and hairline of public area, left side. I have seen 2 dermatologists , a PA and my GP. I have been treated for jock itch, oral lamictil(?), steroid cream, antibiotics (topical and oral). I have had for a year. I have scratched the area until it bleeds and developed an abscess (now healed). The itching has not stopped. Help!

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Sounds like a fungal infection which generally takes 6-8 weeks to completely heal without stopping the treatment. I suggest you visit the dermatologist for a thorough review and complete the speculated treatment course for optimal benefit. Also wearing lose clothes and using moisturising soap bars would benefit.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
