How Can Leg Spots With Itching And Pus Be Treated?
My boyfriend woke up today with a small cluster if red spots with puss like heads. Some of the red spots don t have a puss head on them. He didn t have them at all yesterday and he says they itch. They are located on the inner/back if his right leg right below the crease for his knee cap. Looks like they are spreading up his leg but unsure because it s only red at this time. Can you help identify what this may be and what all can cause this to happen?! Please and thank you! Sincerely, Olivia Blackburn
Hi Olivia, welcome to HCM From your description and history of sudden appearance of the spots esp with a few pus spots, there is a possibility of a bug or insect/caterpillar exposure leaving a rash with pustules esp at that area. Any history of outdoor activity or exposure to plants? Or was there any application of ointment etc over the area. Itching suggests some kind of allergic reaction. Another thing to consider in early stages is shingles, if the rash is spreading along a line and starts to burn or pain, with tiny blisters. You may apply a steroid-antibiotic cream such as Fusee-B twice a day along with antihistamine for the itching(allegra, levocet). Apply calamine lotion for the itching. If the rashes are spreading or pustules are increasing inspite of this, consult a dermatologist and consider a course of antibiotic tablets. Hope this helps.
