Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Leg Weakness Caused By Nerve Pressure Be Treated?
I had severe back pain about 3 weeks ago. After an MRI it was determined that I had a disc L1 putting pressure on the nerve that runs down my left leg. I had sever leg pain up and down my leg also. I had an epidural last week. My back pain is gone however my left leg has been very weak throughout this and my foot just flops when I walk. Once I touch the floor with my heel and rock forward it just flops down to the floor and it is very weak when I try to lift my foot back toward my shin. Is this normal ? what do I need to do to help this I have been walking every evening until it gets tired. Will this correct itself in time ? If so how long do you think I will be like this ?

Thanks for your query. A nerve will take atleast 90days for its recovery. Your case is the same. Unless the disc is rectified your symptoms will not disappear. Wish you a healthy life.
