How Can Loss Of Smell Be Treated?

i lost my sense of smell after what I thought was a mild cold with a cough and one day of chest congestion. this has never happened to me before. it has been about 3 weeks since the main cold, I still have a little nasal congestion, and there is single digit humidity here in vegas if that matters. can I do anything at home to help this?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your problem seems to be due to nasal congestion and it will temporary. As of now do steam inhalation frequently to open up blocked nostrils. You can try nasal decongestant drops like xylometazoline for symptomatic relief. If the problem persist, despite all these, consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
