How Can Loss Of Taste After An Esophageal Hernia Surgery Be Treated?
I had esophageal hernia surgery 7 weeks ago today. My hernia was so large it had pushed my stomach into my chest cavity. I feel sick and just plain feel bad after eating the smallest amounts of food. My taster is totally out of wack. Nothing taste good, not chocolate, coffee, toast, nothing. I'm eating so little my energy level is zip. Any help? Is this normal for me to continue to feel bad?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
If inflammatory condition of the esophagus was there, due to the pathological changes like hernia, it could be associated with acid secretion changes, another word for this is hyperacidity. You must have been given PPI drugs, like Omeprazole and it will be fine sooner or later. It might not be a chronic condition, or long lasting. Therefore, there is no need to worry about this.
Hope I have answered your query, let me know if I can assist you further.
