How Can Lumps In The Legs And Painful Varicose Veins Be Treated In A Heavy Smoker?

My husband has a few lumps on his lower leg and extremely painful varigous veins he says they hurt and legs are very sore what can I do for him he also has been a very heavy smoker and will not take my advise to stop can you please help me I m thinking about taking him to the emergency to get a complete check
