Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother is 80 years old and has had at least 15 surgeries and she recently had hip replacement surgery 8 weeks ago. She can t remember anything. I know that s a side effect of anesthesia but will it go away? Is there something I can give her to help her?
Hello, This usually resolves but not always. The best things you can do are to make sure that her doctor is aware of this and make sure she is eating enough nutritious foods, drinking plenty of water and getting enough sleep. Also check to see that she is not on any medicines that may cause this such as benadryl or flexeril. Adding a daily multivitamin is probably also a good idea Regards
