How Can Nostril Swelling With Irritation Be Treated?
I have had the common cold for the past 3 days with bad cough, and now my cold is gone, but my right nostril is swollen. I dont know if its from blowing my nose so much from the tissue that irritated my nose. Its getting really red and it been like that for about 2 days now and it seems to only get worse.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain it seems that there is inflammation of the mucosa inside the nose and it is leading to pain, redness and irritation.. It seems to be due to trauma to the delicate mucosa of the nose with continuous sniffing as well as there can also be infection..
I would suggest you to take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen,, You can apply a steroid ointment inside the nose as well as you can also apply a thick coat of petroleum jelly for soothing..
You can also do cool compresses over the nose..
In case of no improvement in a week consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps.
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora
