Condrodermatitis is a rare disease wherein the skin and the cartilage which is usually well attached to the skin overlying it are affected. The exact cause is not known as to why does it occur. Hence the exact treatment is also not possible hence the empirical treatment as per the experience of your treating Doctor. Surgery is an option is resistant cases which do not respond to medical line of management.
Pain after surgery is usually very less and since you are getting more pain means there is a possibility of infection or so. Hence I would advise you the following:
* Consult your operating Surgeon to review the wound and drain the secretions if some are accumulated.
* Antibiotic cover and anti-inflammatory medications.
* Lone course of Doxycycline sometimes works well although the exact role is action is not known.
* Take multivitamins, lycopene and mineral with trace elements as supplements as these work as anti-oxidants and helps in reducing pain and swelling.
I hope this answer helps you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
