How Can One Get Rid Of Horton Syndrome?

i have been diagnosed with horton syndrom, i would like an opinion as to wether or not the doctor is correct. my symtoms and history are as follows. about ten or so years ago i started getting headaches in the right temple area. as time went on the i started getting sinus problems with the temple pain. about seven years ago i got repetetive movement injuries in mostly right shoulder and neck area. these seem to make headaches come more often and more severe. at times the headaches cause sensitivity to light, nausea, sometimes vomiting, sensitive to noise, smells, numbness to right side of head, I swear I can feel my hair growing!!! At times all I can do is stay in bed in the dark. very seldom does it effect the left side, however I have noticed that the positions I sleep in will have an effect on the severaty of the headache. these headaches seem to slowly be happening more often, and last up to five or six days. my doctor prescribed mygrain pills, i take one when advil doesn t work, sometimes the pill will take it away most times it lasts for about eight hours then I have to take one again. I then have to wait a full 24hours before taking another. my doctor sent me to a neroligist, he checked my reflexes, had me follow his finger with my eyes, put my head down into my chest, then up all the way, I also had to tell him which fingers were moving for my perifreal vision. He told me I have a condition called Horton syndrom???? I would like to know if you think the same, and what I need to do to stop the headaches. also what can happen with this condition, how can it harm me through out the years if cant cure or get under control.

Hello,

Meet a neuro-ophthalmologist. Get imaging tests like MRI, MRA, Doppler ultrasound, Positron emission tomography (PET), to diagnose Horton's syndrome. The treating doctor will tell you to do a biopsy if required. You will be treated initially with medicines and few exercises.

If Horton's syndrome is diagnosed, get treated immediately. Neglect will lead to worsening of the symptoms and complications like blindness, stroke, etc. In the meantime, get examined by an ENT. Get X-ray PNS done to rule out nasal deviation that may be causing sinusitis and hence the symptoms. Get your sinusitis treated.

Sinusitis may trigger headache and migraine. Some food, strong smell, direct exposure to sunlight, stress and exhaustion can also cause symptoms that you have mentioned. You can take triptans to help reduce migraine. Be careful of food that you take, stay away from strong smell, pollution, avoid direct exposure to sunlight.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
