How Can Pain And Swelling Around The Vagina Be Treated?

I had shower sex last week and for the next couple of days it burned on one side of my vagina from all the friction. It began to get worse and hurt when I urinated. I noticed the area was red and swollen with white thick smelly discharge. I then noticed a few very painful ulcers on the swollen red side of my vagina. Now I have a ton of discharge whenever I stand up and it is painful to walk. Every now and then it gets a little itchy. I’ve been having tea tree oil baths, putting white petroleum jelly on it and taking Codine/paracetamol pain killers. I’m also on the pill.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your discomfort comes as result of trauma also infection. It looks like you have vaginal bacteriosis. We treat it with Polygynax ovula in our clinic (a combination of Neomycin, Polymyxin B and Nystatin). It has antibacterial and antifungal properties. Also put ice on swelling side. Wash well and use cotton underwear.

Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
