How Can Painful Constipation With Mucus Discharges Be Treated?
Hi, I had surgery about 3 weeks ago and have had an extremely hard time making a bowel movement.. I have not been able to use the washroom for nine days. I ve tried laxatives, high fibre diets, Metamucil, increased fluid intake as well as suppositories. None of them work but instead only increase the pain and mucas discharge. My surgery was to fix a rectal prolapse laparoscopically through the abdomen so I understand it can still be healing. My question is: is this normal? What should I do as no doctors/hospitals can seem to help? And how long will it take to go back to normal?

Thank you very much for contacting healthcare magic. You have problem of constipation and more mucus secreation that occurs after surgery. Consent your doctor for constipation problem. More water drinking and high fiber diet not give improvement. Abdominal ultra sonography is helpful for further diagnosis. I hope my guidance is helpful to you. Take care. Thank you.
