How Can Painful Sprain In Both The Ankles Be Treated?

Had MRI Feb. 8, 2017 I printed my MRI report from the patient portal from the radiology center, my Dr. Is Away and my Apt. to go over the results is Tuesday Feb. 14 Pinch nerve in my back made my right leg go numb and down I went Nov. 25 day after Thanksgiving, went to Dr. I had X-ray of the right ankle few days later and it came back negative, I didn t even realize I had sprained my left ankle, didn t even mention it to my Dr. Was a little sore an ache I thought from favoring the right then noticed the swelling. Both ankles really hurt and constantly are swollen, I have tried to stay off them but when both are sprained kind of hard. I cannot use crutches Right Side I have a port from Hodgkin Lymphoma, I am in remission. I have Spinal stenosis, back constantly hurts, I need to get my back treated ASAP, and I m stressing over the MRI is I will need surgery, how long for them to heal... This is getting old it has been almost ten weeks of this. MRI RIGHT ankle w/out Contrast 1. nonvisualization proximal and mid consistant with complete tear 2. high-Grade partial thickness proximal and mid CFL tear 3. Focal edema in Fibular tip, with 5mm associated avulsion fraxture 4. Low-grade particial-thickness tear distal posterior tibias tendon and mild tenosynovitis this happened Nov. 25, i had exray 12/9/2016 Exray was negative, ankel is continueing to swell I aso sprained left ankel 1. Scarring and thickening consistant with prior injury to the talofibular ligament. ( I never sprained this ankel, well at least ibwas not aware of spraining it. I would think I would know if i sprained my left ankle apparently not. 2. Partial-thickness tear distal calcaneofibular ligament 3. Mild posterior tibialis tendinopathy and mild tenosynovitis 4. Small tibiotalar joint effusion Never mind I do not want a monthly subscription... I will just wait until Tuesday. I am Disabled I can t have monthly bills and wasting my minimal income.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Aceclofenac to tramadol for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist, better to consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
