I took the medication clarithromycin which caused a terrible taste in my mouth and my food tasted bitter also. I stopped the medication two weeks ago and, although not as intense, I still have a bitter taste. Is this permanent? Is there something I can do to change this? I were dentures. Could this have effected them so that they cause the bitter taste in my mouth?
hello, thanks for your query, metallic teaste common with clarithromycin, but its a self limiting. stops when stopiing the drug. anyway you can start zinc supplemens for getting back your taste. hope i have answered your query. all the best. take care.
hi Different medications can cause bad taste in mouth. Clarithromycin can also cause bad taste. Factors in mouth like the dentures in your case can aid in bad taste.
Let me reassure you that this is not permanent and will go away by itself. I would suggest the dentures be cleaned and re fitted. There is no need to use any medications. Keep good mouth hygiene.
