How Can Pleural Effusion In The Lung With Breathlessness Be Treated?

my uncle is in the hospital and he asked that is caused by drugs it is also a man that was well known for years to have an addictive personality and the hospital now that he s also a veteran on and they still gave him a oxy cotton as a bit of pain medicine then everything just kind of progress from there right now here in the hospital and he s got so much fluid in his lungs I know that he can barely talk when he breathes you hear the fluid and they regiving him the lot in could that be a problem

Thanks for your question on HCM.
If fluid is present around lungs than it must be aspirated and send for examination.
There are many causes for pleural effusion. common ones are
1. Infections like TB and bacterial pneumonia.
2. Malignancy.
3. Cardiac causes
4. Cirrhosis of liver etc
So better to get done pleural fluid aspiration and done its investigation like
1. Pleural fluid routine micro
2. Pleural fluid cytology
3. Culture and sensitivity
4. Pleural fluid ADA (Adenosine Deaminase Activity)
So discuss these with doctor and proceed accordingly.
