I have been to the Dr. several times through the last year and once this year...each time I go in with the same issues, a slight fever, drainage, pressure on my ears...I take an antibiotic which never seems to do much good...I take my allergy medicine and use my nasal sprays and even the saline wash...the allergy medicine seems to reduce the drainage, still feel like I am always swallowing drainage and that it drains into my chest, and causes me to cough...the pressure on my ears...doesn t go away...the DR s always tell me my ears and lungs look fine...I would just like to know what I can do to try to alleviate the pressure I am feeling on my ears...

How Can Pressure In The Ears Be Treated?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Eustachian tube block may cause pressure in the ears, it also may cause decreased hearing. It may be due to acute pharyngitis or tonsillitis or allergy or tube dysfunction etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid cool drinks and frozen water. Avoid smoking and alcohol intake. Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. Use decongestant medication and antibiotics like Amoxiclav. If symptoms not improved please consult your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly. Take care.
