How Can Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Be Treated?

Yes, I have PAH and it is said to be mild by my heart dr. I am a 69 yr old woman almost 70 on 3/3. I am over weight weighing 240 approx. Will losing weight help? I can not get exercise because I have 5 things wrong with my back from an auto accident and age things going on. I do not have sleep apnea that I know about but have not been checked in about 4 or 5 years. Found out I have PAH about 2 or 3 years ago and just recently have been told to exercise but can not except exercising in my chair or a little walking about a block at the most. What is your suggestions? email address is YYYY@YYYY

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Dear pulmonary hypertension is two types primary and secondary.
Primary or idiopathic pulmonary hypertension in which cause is not usually progress slowly.
In secondary pulmonary hypertension caused by one secondary reason.
Treatment may depend upon severity in case of COPD with cor- pulmonale need to treat the cause.
It may treated with calcium channel blockers or phosphodiesterase inhibitors or endothelial growth factor receptor antagonist drugs etc.Treatment may be depend upon how severe is the problem. Some patients need lung transplantation.

Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you with appropriate medication.
Take care.
