How Can Pus Discharge From The Site Of Achilles Repair Surgery Be Treated?

Thank you. I had Achilles repair surgery in May and it has taken until October for what appeared as a small crater along the surgical scar to finally scab over. This week, I had to be on my feet a lot and the wound seems to have re-opened. I am noticing what appears to be pus with some blood as well. It is after hours here and nobody is calling back. Hello,

As per your case history, you are having suture site infection.

My treatment advice is:
1. Do not squeeze the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take a NSAID like Ibuprofen for 5 to 7 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like Levofloxacin, Cefadroxil and Azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
