How Can Redness And Swelling After A Bee Sting On A Child Be Treated?

A 11 year old was stung by a bee yesterday. They have redness and swelling (puffiness), probably 1+ in an area around 2 inches in diameter to hand. Could this type of reaction lead to anaphylaxis? The client does not have such a history. We are at a summer camp and medication is not available except for an epi pen. Advice?

Hi,

The best option is Calamine lotion or Hydrocortisone cream. Apply it over the affected area twice or thrice a day until it subsides.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priya, Dentist
