How Can Severe Cramps In Genital Areas Be Treated?

Hi, I was driving yesterday, and all of a sudden I started to get severe cramps gential region. Not menstrual cramps. But even lower than that. Seems to be (inside of me) I have been experiencing the pain now for over 12 hours. It hurts to sit down or to stand. I try going to the bathroom, and it hurts to go pee. I also had a bowl movement and it took a lot of strain for just a little bit. All with severe pain. Do you have any suggestions on what may be causing this? Or should I go to the ER?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,

The cramps in the genital region can be due to muscle spasms. This can be related to mild nerve root compression at the level of the lower spine. Oral muscle relaxants and methylcobalamin supplements can help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rakhi Tayal, OBGYN
