How Can Severe Pain And Swelling In The Foot Be Treated?

I have been having severe pain in the top of my right foot for a few days, last night it was quite swollen( no swelling before) and this evening it now hurts in the bottom of my foot. Its not in my ankle but in the long bones of the center of my foot all the way to the outside and now underneath. I have not injured it in anyway, I was thinking it may be gout. My big toe on my right foot has been numb for over 20 years following laminectomy on L4&5. It is extremely painful and cannot put any pressure on it, making it impossible to walk. In a sitting position it hurts about 6-7 but when I try to walk it goes to a 10 + so bad that I’ve been crying with pain. No redness or swelling today. I’m 58yo w female, overweight with severe nerve damage in my back, and severe osteoarthritis.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The symptoms are suggestive of a condition called plantar fasciitis.

As of now, you can take analgesics like Diclofenac or Tramadol for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, better to consult an orthopedician and in that case, you might require steroid injection to the sole.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
