How Can Severe Pain In The Knees And Shoulder Due To A Damage In The Joints Be Managed In A 48-year-old?
Hi, My husband is a retired US Marine. While on active duty he broke 3 vertebrae-2 were fused 6 years ago. He also has debilitating pain in both knees and shoulders due to joint damage, in addition to the severe chronic back pain. He has been on morphine pills for years for pain management but it isn t working well lately. The VA docs say he needs joint replacements but is too young (48 yrs old). Last month he agreed to try 48 hour fentanyl patches. Due to excessive sweating, these aren t working either. Any suggestions for alternative pain control?
Pain medications are not a permanent solution for your problems. It is hard to recreate the cartilage that is already lost. However, you can halt further progress by taking nutritional supplements like Glucosamine.
