How Can Severe Pain On The Left Rib Cage Be Treated?

I am a 64 year old very active and fit male 185 Lbs., 5ft 9 in. Recently (past week) I am getting a biting pain on my left rib cage about half way up my side just below my breast and to the side. If I take ibuprofen the pain will soften for a few hours. I am staring to have trouble sleeping because of the pain.

Pain disturbing sleep noticed by you which partly diminishes with ibuprofen might be having some skin changes in the area also like redness,. blisters with water of varied size and pain on touch too. Ask some one to peep there once and if present,seek treatment as for Herpes Neuralgia early.
