Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, while I was running today I got a slight numbness and weakness in my left calf. It didn t hurt to run on, but when I ran my leg was buckling a little. I tried rolling it with a foam roller until I realized it wasn t the calf muscle itself that was sore, it was a tendon or something under it, somewhere between the bone and muscle. If I hit it or massaged it I felt a sharp pain. After a few hours it no longer hurt to run or walk, but if I rub it I still feel pain. Is resting the only way to keep it from hurting?

How Can Sharp Pain In The Calf Be Treated?
Hi, Most probably it is due to a pulled muscle or spasm. As of now, you can take analgesics/muscle relaxant combination like Aceclofenac/Baclofen for symptomatic relief. Take bed rest for a couple of days. Most often it will settle by itself if symptoms persist you can consult an orthopedician and get evaluated. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
