How Can Sharp Pain In The Lower Abdomen, Trapped Gas And Constipation Be Managed?

Hi, during vaginal sex yesterday I experienced sharp pain in my lower abdomen. Immediately after, the sharp pain came back and worsened until I could hardly move. It felt like trapped gas, but was very painful. The pain slowly subsided and has remained at a duller pain that only occurs when I move. I am not constipated and do not have gas. My best guess is that my intestines are inflamed. What are some possible things this could be and when should I seek a doctor?

Hi,

It is possible that the pain you are experiencing is related to a variety of causes, ranging from something as simple as gas or constipation to more serious conditions that require medical attention. Some possible causes of your symptoms may include:
1. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID): PID is an infection of the female reproductive organs that can cause pain in the lower abdomen, as well as fever, abnormal vaginal discharge, and painful sex.
2. Ovarian Cysts: Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that form on the ovaries. They can cause sharp pain in the lower abdomen, especially during sex.
3. Endometriosis: It's a condition where the uterus lining tissue grows outside of it. It can cause severe pain during sex, as well as painful periods, fatigue, and digestive issues.
4. Appendicitis: Appendicitis is a condition in which the appendix becomes inflamed and can cause severe pain in the lower abdomen, especially on the right side.
5. Gastrointestinal Issues: Gastrointestinal issues such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or a gastrointestinal infection can cause abdominal pain and discomfort.

It is important to seek medical attention if the pain persists or worsens, or if you experience other symptoms such as fever, nausea, vomiting, or abnormal vaginal bleeding. Your healthcare provider can perform a physical examination, run tests, and determine the underlying cause of your symptoms, as well as recommend appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
