How Can Shortness Of Breath Upon Exertion Or Walking, Chest Cold And Fatigue Be Treated?

I have recently had 2 total hip replacements in 4 months. I had a chest cold after 2 no surgery and have, since developed a shortness of breath especially upon exertion Walking etc... Prior to my total hip replacement surgeries I was unable to walk for 6 months. I also gained about 25 lbs during this time. I am wondering of the shortness of breathe could be due to my stamnia or could I possibly have walking pneumonia. I do still have a cough and feel tired all the time. The shortness of breath is my biggest concern.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Please consult a doctor and do X-ray first. Because due to hip replacement, immobilisation can lead to venous thromboembolism. Which will further lead to pulmonary embolism which make you breathlessness and pneumonia due to post of inadequate lung ventilation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
