My son is taking 36 mlg of Concerta once a day for the last 2 years. I had a few concerns even on the day he was perscrhed concerts. My son was born with a heart murmur but it closed before he was 6 months old. So my son now has an irregular heartbeat and when we miss a few days of meds becaus of prescription being misplaced he goes through wiidthdrawls.what is your opinion please and thank you.
Concerta (methylphenidate HCl) is a CNS stimulant. It can cause withdrawal symptoms (anxiety, irritability, insomnia, and blood pressure increase etc) after discontinuation abruptly. In such cases consult a doctor. Discontinue drug periodically to assess behavior and determine the need to continue the drug.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
