How Can Sinusitis Be Treated?

My husband and I acquired a respiratory and sinuous infection in Jan 2018 in Singapore, and have been sick since. Bacterial antibiotics have done nothing, and we are guessing it might be a fungal infection. What steps are there to diagnose and treat it.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your description it seems that your husband is having sinusitis which fails to respond with routine antibiotics. The next step is to take a CT scan to look for the extent of involvement. Also start a short course of anti fungal drugs like flucinazole or amphotericin. If the problem still persist, we can go for surgical options like FESS( functional endoscopic sinus surgery) which shows good results. Consult an ENT specialist and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
