How Can Sinusitis Followed By Pneumonia Be Treated?
A male 71 yrs old had a sinus infection. Not a normal one however it has lasted about 3 weeks. A lot of sinus drainage, tiredness, much coughing. He got a steroid shot, a workdown pkg of metholprednisone (sp) He has now relapsed & went to urgent care for the 3rd time today. He was told he has some pneumonia in the left lobe. They gave him a steroid shot, & prescribed Tuzistra Xr14.7-2.8 MG/5 Ml (cough syrup) & Ventolin HFA Albuterol inhaler. Does this sound like a reasonable treatment for his diagnosis? The medication list you provided does not include an antibiotic. Antibiotic levofloxacin is important in fighting pneumonia-causing bacteria. Please follow with his treating physician to discuss the need for antibiotics.
