Hello doctor my daughter is having squint her left is more weaker .......the eye balls goes inside ward towards nose past 1 week doctor started patching .....is squint curable,?? Does patching works ?? Is it possible at a age of 2 n half surgery is possible ?will surgery give hundred percent guarantee that it will work for her
whether squint is curable or not depends on 1)type of esotropia /phoria; 2)degree /angle of squint(severity) 3) amount of refractive error 4)duration 5)association with opacities in visual axis
patching definetely helps in improving squint if followed with correct procedure. It basicaly aims at usinng the affected (squinting) eye more which has become sort of lazy. I would also suggest to wear proper spectacles after refraction.
surgery will lead to proper alignment of muscles in many types of squint and definetely helps in improving squinting but if angle is more ; then there are chances of residual squint .there is nothing called as 100% guarantee for any sort of surgery so it holds true for squint surgeries too. hope this helps. any further querries are welcome
