Hello,
Stomach pain, rash, and swelling is due to several specific conditions in children. The foremost one which comes into mind is "Henoch schonlein Purpura" which often subsides in 1 week without creating problems in most children. But in some, it can have long lasting effects. So I would suggest you to check the urine for blood cells and protein and also check
creatinine in blood.
If she has swellings in neck (lymph nodes) , should rule out
Kawasaki disease. If she has blood in stools, should rule out Early
inflammatory bowel disease. Rashes in legs and hands and swelling of legs also mandates ruling out diseases like
vasculitis. All the above depends on the duration of illness and type of rash.
It is advisable to evaluate clinically on the above possibilities than considering blanket
steroids. Short duration of Steroids (3-4 weeks) as such will not have much side effects but can cause acidity or change in behavior (child might become cranky).
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
