How Can Swelling And Pain In The Knees And Ankles Be Treated?

my knees down to my ankles are staying swollen and are red from about half way down my calf to my ankle. they hurt alot but not intolerable. scale of 1 to 10 about a 5. they swell so bad that it feels like they are going to bust open. other drs say it is just water retention but i dont know. i am taking glyburide, lasix, potassium,bystolic and probiotics. i have no energy to do anything.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It can be a joint effusion due to collections of blood or fluid inside your joint cavities.
A dog now you can take analgesics like ibuprofen or diclofenac for pain relief.
If symptoms persist, you have to consult an orthopaedic and the fluid has to be drained.
An MRI scan may be required in that case.
