How Can Swelling In Knee With Red Spots Be Treated After An Injury?

Hi, i had a basketball game yesterday and i got hit on the top of my knee as i was jumping . A few minutes after the incident it started swelling and little red dots appeared on the place i got hit. I put an icepack on it and let it cool down overnight. As i woke up the swelling was on top of the knee, i had difficulty standing on it but i could tolerate it, its also really hard to bend it. I'm just not sure if its just some kind of busing and should give it a couple of days rest or go get it checked up at the hospital.
Thanks

I think it can be a ligament injury. I would recommend you to get at least an MRI. Swelling which appear after some time of injury can be caused by ACL tear. If MRI is normal you can continue with ice pack and analgesic. Avoid any sporting activity for at least 2 weeks. You can wear a knee brace mean while.
