How Can Swelling On The Finger Tips Caused By A Bee Sting Be Treated?

Hello Dr. Rynne, I noticed the tips of my fingers on my left hand being numb. I also had pain in my left side of where my kidneys are. I am 58 and very active person. I run a lot on treadmills, I do fun runs, marathons and spartan races. I am from Alaska and recently flew to Kentucky and drove my daughter back to Alaska. In Bristish Columbia, I got stunk by a bee and then noticed back pain, leg swollen and itcheyness. Once I got home, my swollen is going done but the numbness is not going away.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

First, you have to check that bee sting is there in your skin or not. Bee sting may cause anaphylaxis reaction, edema, pain, breathing difficulty and rarely cardiac arrest. Please remove the sting which has pierced in your skin.

Use antihistamines and steroid if necessary. Apply skin smoothening agent. If symptoms not improved, please consult your physician, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu ,
