I was struck in the eye yesterday with a tiny piece of plastic while using a dremel tool. I don t think it stay in my eye and I didn t think anything of it until many hours later, when my eyelid felt sore. Looking at it in the mirror, it is a bit red and a touch swollen. Today, it has not worsened and my actual eyeball looks and feels completely normal. Is this just a little bruise or could it be more serious?
Hello It seems from the history that you are having bruising of the eyelids following a injury with plastic. The bruise is because of collection of blood in the layers of the skin of the eyelids as a result of impact of injury and is called as ecchymosis of eyelids. The treatment is by use of anti-inflammatory drugs and applying cold compression. This will resolve slowly over 1-2 weeks as the blood gets absorbed. If there is no eye injury then no need to worry and it will resolve spontaneously.
Thank you
