How Can Tooth Ache Be Reduced?

Hi, I'm pretty sure I have gaseous necrosis of the dental pulp based on research. I have a dentist appt tomorrow, but is there anything I can do to stop or soothe the pain in the meantime? Only ice directly on the tooth helps, but I don't know if I can do this all night.
