Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I made a check during a hockey game a few years ago and my tricep had a sharp deep throbbing pain from the but end of the other players stick jamming up into my tricep when I made the check along the boards. The pain lasted for hours and is still painful when I lift weights. The muscle is still indented and my tricep looks different than the other one. My question is, do you know what this is called and what I could do to regain my strength? It is painful to lift and expersize.
As per your reports and history it looks like there can be partial tear in your triceps tendon/muscle. I will advise to Rest the part and avoid any movements that produce pain. Apply ice or a cold pack to the painful area for 15 to 20 minutes, 4 times a day for several days. Wrap the ice or cold pack in a towel. Till time you can take anti-inflammatory and antibiotic if infection is suspected.
I will advise you to further investigate for the cause of indentation. I will advise you to do MRI and Ultrasound. Partial tear can be managed conservatively with physiotherapy with USG and TENS.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
Take care
