Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Upper Abdominal Pain Due To Food Poisoning Be Treated?
I was eating out at a restaurant last week. i was eating some bread and butter. When all of the sudden i had this awful pressure/pain in between my upper rib cage. the pain was so intense. After about 10 minutes of agony, I went to the restroom and kind of threw up saliva. After that i felt 100% again, within in 2 minutes the pain returned. Ever since I have been dealing with a rotten sour stomach. i have been taking tums, which help until I eat anything again. i ate the smallest bite of garlic bread last night with my family and I could feel the same kind of pain accruing.....just not as intense. Since I went to the urgent care on Sat. and I weighed 144.6, I now weigh 139.6.
Sudden onset of chest pain while eating is most probably due to esophagus muscle spasm. Another symptom of rotten sour stomach can be suggestive of dyspepsia.
All the symptoms could be due to digestive dysfunction. Sometime, it may be associated with hyperacidity. First of all try to change the diet, have a light diet freshly prepared at home. Avoid junk food, Tab Omeprazole can be tried once in day as it is nothing to worry.
Hope I have answered your query.
