Hi,

Effexor XR, Venlafaxine, an anti depressant acts by inhibiting Serotonin and Norepinephrine reuptake. It also helps in anxiety and more. Since you had extended release tablet, it effects lasts for longer than usual. You may feel drowsy, dizzy, dry mouth, etc. So, take rest and be under observation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
