How critical is a platelet count of 90? What is the best 1st effort to raise the count? Mine as been stable forever, but has now changed at age 76. I am on MANY prescribed meds for blood pressure, acute arthritus and mild high blood sugar. I take about 20-25 meds daily! I am otherwise very healthy and very active. Thanks

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You are highly likely suffering from drug-induced thrombocytopenia (low platelet count). It is a condition when medications cause low platelet count. Most common drugs are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), Furosemide or Heparin. Thrombocytopenia makes bleeding more likely. Your medications should be reviewed, and the medication that causing low platelet count should be stopped.
I hope the above information will be helpful for you. Please, feel free to ask me if there is anything else you need to know.
