tonsillitis is an infection (at times due to Streptococcus also).The transmission of infection is through air (or droplets infection)when you sneez.Tonsils are a sort of body guard which try to stop the infection from directly going to lungs by getting themselves infected;so hope nothing is to be worried ;get your grand daughter to see a paediatrician he will prescribe the necessary medicines & she should be fine.
