How Do MTHFR-C677T And A1298C Affect The Elderly?

I am 67 yrs. old and I have two children , a daughter and my youngest son(both have different fathers) who have tested positive for MTHFR-C677T and A1298C. I have not been tested yet, but feel sure that I will test positive since two of my children have it. What problems can this present to me at my age?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. With these possible mutations, there could be an increased risk of cardiac disease or peripheral vascular disease, etc. Increased risk of thrombus formation will also be present.
2. The possibility of you having it is high, and mutational analysis would be better, rather than worry about it.
3. Preventive measures like weight reduction, moderate exercises and anti platelet medications like aspirin or clopidogrel. More details necessary for further opinion.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again
