Hi, I'm 21 years old. I missed my period in January and decided to take a pregnancy test. The test said positive. I visited a doctor because I didn't want to have a child now. The doctor did no examination on me. He just said that I was going on my 8th week. I didn't want the baby so he gave me a prescription to get the tablets at the pharmacy. He told me to take the first six tablets when I got home and an hour after take the other six, but he didn't tell me how to take it. I took the first six vaginally and the second six orally. When I got up the next morning, I rushed to the bathroom and four of the tablets came out with some blood. I have had few cramps, but not severe. But five days later I saw something came out which looked entirely different. How would I know if that was the baby that came out and if the pills still worked even though four of them came out?
Hi, Thanks for the query. Usually medicines for abortion should be prescribed after ultrasound. Because ultrasound helps in confirming the pregnancy and in estimating the gestational age. Anyhow as products of conception like things came out and as you are not having pain or bleeding now, possibly abortion might have completed. Possibly the remaining tablets might have acted in inducing the process of abortion. If you want to be sure, better to go for ultrasound. Ultrasound helps in ruling out the possibility of retained products. If any retained products are found, you may need additional dose of tablets or D&C depending on the amount of products. Take care.
